Six complainants in the past two months allege they received letters from the company claiming the consumers would be billed for services they allegedly did not agree to.
One Click Traffic Generator, Inc. currently has an “F” rating with BBB for failing to respond to two of those six complaints. Two complaints are currently pending while awaiting a response from the company.
“Forced subscription is absolutely unacceptable and the company should be ashamed of its practices,” said a business owner in New York state who received a letter in the mail stating he had been registered for the company’s services. “They were stating they would optimize our website which they never had access to… so the services they were claiming to provide could have never been provided.”
Other consumers allege they were called by the company and asked to confirm basic company information. After, they received a letter stating they had signed up for the services and would be charged through their phone bill.
“One Click contacted our company by phone and spoke to a temporary receptionist and asked her to confirm our company name and phone number,” said a Sherman Oaks business owner. “She repeatedly stated she was not authorized to incur charges on behalf of the company. However, we later received a letter confirming our new account. When I called to cancel the services, they played a recording back to me which was obviously cut and pasted to repeat her ‘yes’ answers when necessary.”
The company responded to two complaints by stating the accounts were canceled. One Click Traffic Generator, Inc. did not respond to inquiries from a BBB investigator.
“These complaints illustrate why businesses should pay close attention to all bills,” said Gary Almond, president of BBB serving northeast California. “If you fail to recall even a small charge of $30, be sure to confirm it was authorized.”
Should businesses receive unauthorized charges on their telephone bill, BBB recommends contacting the telephone service provider to dispute the charges.
